Many people will say JAMB is too difficult, some will say JAMB is by luck others will say you need to take expo before passing JAMB.
All these are lies and you should never listen to them. If you once had this mentality I plead to you to drop it as soon as possible.
Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination(UTME) is a tertiary entrance examination conducted by the Body Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
JAMB is one of the simplest external examinations in Nigeria.
Many people will try to prove me wrong, but is actually a fact, not a claim.
JAMB is an objective examination unlike WAEC and its equivalent.
You can’t compare an objective examination to a theory based examination.
Yes, JAMB questions are usually not straightforward and requires reasoning but the fact is an objective examination gives you an edge.
Why many people say “JAMB is more difficult than WAEC” is because of examination malpractice and this has deceived and made many Nigerian students lazy.
In this article I will be showing you all the tips and tricks to pass JAMB extremely well.
Note these tips and tricks are based on my personal experience and of those who passed JAMB extremely well.

Have a Positive Mindset
Yes many people look down on themselves.
They feel they can’t do this or that.
This mindset is very bad and if you are one these people you seriously need to change that mindset because that mindset won’t take you anywhere rather it will cause your downfall.
You need have a positive mindset concerning anything you are embarking on, even if you know it may seem difficult but always think positive.
Set a high target score
Yes, this is one of the most crucial steps to take if you want to pass JAMB.
You need to set a target score. For example when I was preparing for my JAMB exams, I set a target score of 300.
So I started working towards this. unfortunately, I Scored 285 but thanks to God that I was able to secure my admission to my desired course with that score.
What am I trying to show you is that the target score you set for urself will determine what you’re preparation will look like.
You need to set a target score of 300+ if you know you’re really ready to prepare for JAMB examination.
Set A Study Plan
For every examination you need to have a study plan.
There is a popular saying which says “is how you lay your bed that’s how you will lie on it. “
So, for you to pass JAMB extremely well you need have proper planning, for example.
Sketch out a time table comprising of all your subject combinations also when to read, when to answer questions etc.
Make use of Jamb Syllabus
This is very important. Some people undermine the importance of JAMB syllabus.
Now let me tell you something you don’t know 99% of JAMB questions are from the syllabus.
I will also repeat this JAMB won’t set questions outside their Syllabus.
That’s why they always make their Syllabus available to all students.
If a student can actually study all the topics in JAMB syllabus for all subject combinations, I don’t see such a student getting below 300 in JAMB.

Use JAMB Recommend Textbooks
Another interesting thing you need to be aware of is that JAMB always recommends different textbooks for all subjects, so if you’re preparing for JAMB, you need to use JAMB’s recommended textbooks.
In my later article I will be listing out the JAMB recommended textbooks for all subjects.
Study past questions
This trick has been 100% accurate for the past few years. JAMB Past questions are very important for your preparation.
The funniest part is that JAMB always repeat their questions. JAMB hardly set new questions.
They always repeat questions from past years.
This doesn’t mean that JAMB does not set new questions.
But I can beat my chest and tell you that 50% of JAMB questions are JAMB past questions, then the remaining 50% are new questions, so if you can be able to answer all past questions for your subject combinations you’re really Good to go.
Even though you can’t be able to answer all, at least answer as many as possible.
Early Preparation
As you are all aware of this popular saying which says “Prior preparation prevents poor performance.”
Yes, you can’t undermine the fact that early Preparation is a very important aspect of success.
Imagine comparing yourself with someone that started preparing for JAMB 9-12 months before the exam to you who just started preparing for JAMB two months before the exam.
Both of you can’t get the same result.
Once you start your preparation earlier, there’s this confidence in you because you know that you must have covered all areas.
So I usually recommend all jambites that want to pass extremely well to start their preparation 6-12 months before the exam.
Take a break from social media
Social media❗❗❗ Yes, social media is one of the biggest distractions jambites have.
I can remember when my sister was preparing for JAMB examination I would tell her to leave social media alone and read, but she wouldn’t listen to me.
She loved watching Tik Tok videos, movies and the rest, but the result was not what she wanted.
So what I am trying to let you know that social media is a very big distraction and the earlier you know this, the better for you.
Not only does social media distract you from reading, but it will also make you lazy to read your books.
So, if you’re a social media lover, I would advise you to take a break. Even if you can’t stay off completely try to minimize the time you spend on social media.
Brainstorm with like minded People
Brainstorming is very crucial if you’re preparing for an examination.
Brainstorming is when a group of people come together to solve a problem or to archive a particular task.
When you brainstorm with like minded people, you observe you are becoming better.
If you’re someone that mathematics is looking difficult to you associate yourselves with mathematicians.
Ask and answer questions. if you continue like this, you will find out that mathematics is not difficult.
Even if you don’t have anyone around you, you can join different brainstorming social media groups and chats.
Put God first
And the most important thing “Put God first” sometimes is not all about reading and preparation they’re some cases in which one will read and prepare well and still fail.
Like a friend of mine who we were all preparing for JAMB.
This guy is a guru. when I mean guru, someone that has read almost three textbooks each for all his subject combinations.
This person am talking about really prepared well for JAMB.
Unfortunately he was not able to answer any question.
According to him his start was disturbing him that day tripping off and on, he said he complained to the invigilators but they said they don’t have nay other one.
He tried to manage it but it was getting worse until his time elapsed.
Are you seeing it? Someone that prepared well but could not able to write.
It’s not by power nor by might.
Sometimes we depend on our power and might. but it supposed not to be so you need to put God first, seek his face concerning anything you’re intending to do because he knows it all.
I can remember during my time I fasted and prayed concerning my examination and God really answered my prayer, so to anyone preparing for JAMB, whether you’re a Christian or Muslim, you need to put God first.
